What to do in Cambrils?

The fishing village of Cambrils is known as the culinary capital of the Costa Dorada. In more than 150 restaurants you can eat super fresh fish, paella or Spanish tapas. Nice on the boulevard, in a small tapas bar or in one of the 2 Michelin star restaurants. From terraces with plastic chairs to fine dining, Cambrils has it all!

Every Thursday evening from 6pm (except in July and August) ‘Tastum’ takes place in Cambrils.

At the participating restaurants you can order their dish of the week with a glass of wine, cava or water

for €6 per person. On the Instagram page of Tastum you can see every Wednesday what the restaurants will be serving and you can plan a route along your favourite dishes. You report to one of the participating restaurants and receive a stamp card, on which you receive 1 stamp for every order. Is your card full? Then you will receive a bottle of wine. Double party!

The fishing port of Cambrils is in full swing and is definitely worth a visit. At the end of the afternoon (around 4 p.m.) the fishing boats return with their catches. These are unloaded in the port onto large carts that are sold directly at the auction. From squid and sardines to monkfish and langoustines, everything passes by. In the auction building in the port, the buyers from the local restaurants and supermarkets are ready to buy the fresh catch. The crates slide past them on a conveyor belt, a screen shows what the contents are and for what price it is ultimately sold. It is certainly fun to take a peek inside through the side entrance. In the port there are various signs with explanations about the fishing methods used and the fish that are caught here. Under the trees, the fishing nets are spread out so that they can be repaired, an idyllic sight. If you want to buy fresh fish yourself, visit Peixos Savall, where every type of fish is displayed for meters. Next door is a nice greengrocer, so you can get all the fresh ingredients for a delicious meal. You can find both shops here.

The boulevard and the shopping streets behind it in Cambrils are long enough to spend a few hours wandering around. At the harbour you will find all the restaurants and shopping streets, which continue inland to the new Rambla Jaume – a wide street with terraces and shops.

Did you know that Cambrils also has an old part – Barri Antic? The weekly market is held here every Wednesday. Have a cup of coffee on the adjacent Placa d’Espanya and drop by Bodega Prim for a good wine, beautiful bottles of vermut or tap something tasty from one of its wooden barrels. Take a walk through the old streets and you will see a completely different part of Cambrils.
