Staying in Cambrils and looking for a day filled with culture, charming streets, stunning architecture and delicious food? Then a day trip to Barcelona from Cambrils is an absolute must. Whether you choose to travel by train or by car, you'll find yourself in the heart of one of Europe's most exciting cities in just an hour and a half.
Travelling from Cambrils to Barcelona by Train
Looking for a stress-free way to visit Barcelona without worrying about traffic or parking? Then the train is an excellent option. From Cambrils station, you'll travel along the beautiful Mediterranean coastline before arriving right in the heart of the city.
Cambrils train station is easy to reach and offers free parking. You can check the latest schedules on the Renfe website and choose a fast connection to Passeig de Gràcia station. Located in the city centre, it's the perfect starting point for a day of exploring.
Train tickets can be purchased at the ticket desk inside the station. Before heading to the platform, don't forget to validate your ticket using the machine on the wall.
Travelling from Cambrils to Barcelona by Car
Prefer the freedom of travelling at your own pace? Barcelona is also easy to reach by car. The drive from Cambrils to the city centre takes approximately one and a half hours.
There are two main routes. The C32 is slightly faster, but you'll pay around €13.50 in tolls. The AP7 motorway is now toll-free and only takes a few minutes longer, making it the preferred choice for most visitors.
Once you arrive in Barcelona, we recommend parking at Interparking Las Ramblas (€25.95 for 12 hours). One of the biggest advantages of this car park is that you can reach it largely via the ring roads, avoiding the busy city centre. As soon as you step outside, you'll find yourself close to Las Ramblas and just a short walk from the historic Gothic Quarter.
Things to Do in Barcelona
Wander Through the Gothic Quarter
No visit to Barcelona is complete without exploring Barri Gòtic, the city's historic old quarter. Here you'll discover a maze of narrow streets, hidden squares and centuries-old buildings. Walking around the impressive Barcelona Cathedral, it often feels as though time has stood still.
Make sure to stop at Plaça de Sant Josep Oriol, a charming square where local artists and painters regularly display their work. It's the kind of place where you end up staying longer than you planned.
Admire Gaudí's Masterpieces
Barcelona's most iconic landmark is, of course, the Sagrada Família. Even if you only admire it from the outside, the building is truly breathtaking. If you'd like to visit the interior, be sure to book your tickets online well in advance.
While you're exploring the city, don't miss Casa Batlló, one of Antoni Gaudí's most famous creations. Its flowing façade, colourful details and dragon-inspired roof make it one of Barcelona's most remarkable buildings.
Time for Lunch
After a morning of sightseeing, you'll probably be ready for a good lunch. Head to the Eixample district, where you'll find countless excellent restaurants, stylish terraces and modern tapas bars popular with both locals and visitors.
