There is so much to do in the immediate vicinity of Casa Porta Verda that it is impossible to discover it all during one holiday. That is why we have listed the most beautiful places, tastiest restaurants and finest beaches for you. In the blog on this website you can read more about our experiences, and if you book a stay with us, you will receive our extensive tips and favorite locations.

There are more than 150 restaurants in Cambrils alone, from authentic tapas to star restaurants. All restaurants don't open for dinner until 8pm and 2pm is a common time for lunch. You can enjoy lunch on the beach at Xiri Felic (2km), or at Xiri Rosita (1km). Here you eat fresh fish or share a pan of paella with your feet in the sand.

Would you rather have a more extensive lunch? Then the 3-course menu at Moraima is recommended. Including wine, you only pay € 16.50 pp here.

For a glass of cava or  a jug of ice-cold sangria, go to L'Indret, on the boulevard, to Club Nautique, in the harbour, or to Casa Blanca, on a pleasant square in the centre.

Later in the evening you can eat tapas at Instint, or choose from one of the many restaurants  on the boulevard.

Casa Porta Verda is close to the coast, but the best beaches are a little further away. Both in the direction of Cambrils and Miami Platja.

At the beach Platja de la Pixerota (1.8 km) there is a simple bar with drinks and a small menu. This is close to the house and perfect for an afternoon at the beach.

Inland you will find several wine regions, including Priorat. This is one of the best wine regions in Spain with a DOC status where mainly red wines are made from Garnacha, Cariñena, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. The vineyards are on steep slopes, which is why the land is worked with donkeys and the grapes are picked by hand. There are eleven DOC villages in this rugged area that are definitely worth a visit. You will find many wineries, where you can taste and buy, cozy restaurants and beautiful hiking trails. A number of wineries also offer other activities such as breakfast in the vineyard, a tasting with dinner or lunch or a picnic.

Next to Priorat, Casa Porta Verda is surrounded by the  wine regions of Montsant (DO), Terra Alta, Tarragona and Pénedes. Delicious Cava is produced in this last region.

From Casa Porta Verda you travel in 75 minutes by train to Barcelona, where you get off in the center. But the closer cities of Reus (15 minutes) and Tarragona (20 minutes) also have beautiful old streets with a lot of history, restaurants and shops.

In the nature reserve around the Ebro delta you can cycle, sail, visit the coastal towns of L'Ampolla and La Ràpita and eat on a floating oyster and mussel farm.
